Kitsap Mental Health Services will present Pete Earley, former Washington Post reporter and author of Crazy: A Father’s Search through America’s Mental Health Madness, to speak about his book on September 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center. His book, Crazy, chronicles Earley’s investigation of our country’s mental health system as a result of his experience with his own son’s mental illness.
Earley is the author of 10 other books, most of which are investigative pieces. His first book, Family of Spies: Inside the John Walker Spy Ring, resulted in a CBS mini-series and Circumstantial Evidence, the story of a man unjustly sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit, won the 16th Robert F. Kennedy Book Award, the 1995 Edgar Award for best fact crime book, and has been slated for production as a feature film. The author will autograph books purchased at the event. Admission is free. A donation to KMHS of $10 is suggested.
Earley’s visit is co-sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Brian Wicks (President, The Doctors Clinic) and Eve Willett (Eve Willett Agency, Inc.), with support from Barnes & Noble, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) – Kitsap Chapter and S & S Security Services.
