Harrel Joins KMHS as 24-Hour Service Director

Ian Harrel has joined Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) as Director of 24-Hour Services. Harrel comes to KMHS from Behavioral Health Resources in Olympia, WA where he served as Program Manager for Emergency Services since 2005. In that position he was responsible for program oversight and clinical supervision for 24-hour community mental health crisis programs in Thurston and Mason counties. In his new position, Harrel, who has over 12 years of mental health experience, will provide oversight for all adult 24-hour services at KMHS including the Adult Inpatient Unit, Burwell House and the Crisis Response Team, as well as the Older Adults program.

Born in Missouri and a long-time resident of Washington state, Harrel received his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Montana and his Master of Social Work from Walla Walla College. He is the current President of the Washington Association of Designated Mental Health Professionals and has served as a member of the executive committee of the Association for five years. Harrel and his wife live in Olympia.
