David Burrows, Treatment Coordinator at Kitsap Mental Health Services, will present a workshop at the 2008 Conference of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Association in Indianapolis, Indiana this May.
Burrows’ presentation, entitled “Treatment Strategies for the Most Challenging Co-Occurring Disorders ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Clients,” is intended to assist mental health practitioners in their work with clients who have had multiple hospitalizations, are not engaging in treatment, have an addiction as well as a mental illness and who need considerable support to remain independent.
On staff at KMHS since 2003, Burrows is a member of the agency’s Assertive Recovery Treatment (ART) Team. This is his second consecutive year to present a workshop at the ACT Association Conference. He has facilitated numerous trainings for mental health counselors working with COD and ACT clients, as well as trainings in the areas of family therapy, blended families and treatment for traumatized children.
