The Multi-Dimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC) Program at Kitsap Mental Health Services has recently been recognized as meeting criteria necessary for official certification. The agency’s evidence-based program provides intensive services for at-risk youth and their families in Kitsap, Clallam, and Jefferson counties. This culmination of an extensive three-year certification process is a milestone demonstrating that the local program is successfully implementing the MTFC model.
Since 2006, the agency’s program has placed twenty-two youth ages 12 to 17 years in the homes of specially trained, licensed foster parents who work in cooperation with the MTFC clinical staff to help youth rebuild their lives and reunify with their families. Multi-Dimensional Treatment Foster Care is known as an effective, structured alternative to long-term inpatient care for youth with serious mental and behavioral health issues. The MTFC program at Kitsap Mental Health Services is a pilot project funded by the Washington State Mental Health Division. More information about the MTFC program is available by contacting program supervisor Carol Lambias at (360) 479-4994.
