Dr. David Beck, Medical Director for Kitsap Mental Health Services, is one of ten emerging community psychiatric leaders nationwide to be selected for a comprehensive psychiatric leadership training program sponsored by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. Dr. Beck was selected to participate in the year long program based on his visionary leadership style and twenty years experience implementing integrated health and recovery models across systems of care. A board-certified internist, Dr. Beck has practiced in both Community and Tribal Health Centers, specializing in Addiction Medicine and Community Mental Health.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to learn from and be mentored by some of the finest professionals in the community mental health field, with faculty from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Oregon Health Sciences University, the Center for Mental Health Services at SAMHSA, and others” comments Dr. Beck. “Some of the work we are doing right now in Kitsap County, such as integrating behavioral health care with healthcare at Peninsula Community Health Services, is the type of cutting edge work we will explore. As our Kitsap community is grows and matures, we will need to offer additional geropsychiatric, addiction, crisis-stabilization, corrections, and integrated behavioral health and medical services for at-risk populations. The Psychiatric Leadership Development Program will help us as local physicians become change agents who can apply new knowledge and skills leading the way to comprehensive, quality behavioral healthcare for people in our own community.”
