KMHS Sponsors Seminar with USC Professor

University of Southern California professor, A. Steve Frankel, PH.D., J.D., and renowned psychologist and attorney with over 30 years of clinical experience, will present a workshop on law, ethics and regulation of mental health practice in Bremerton on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Dr. Frankel’s workshop, sponsored by Kitsap Mental Health Services, will explore, among other topics, how the current regulatory climate can inhibit expressions of caring and compassion in therapy, how malpractice insurance works and how therapists can protect themselves from compassion-regulation paradoxes.

Dr. Frankel, who maintains a law practice in the area of health and administrative law, as well as a professorship in Clinical Psychology at USC, was awarded his PH.D. from Indiana University and his law degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. He has earned many prestigious awards for teaching.

The full-day workshop, to be held at the Norm Dicks Government Center in Bremerton on July 26 has been approved for 6 CEU’s and meets the Law and Ethics requirements for Washington State Licensed Psychologists, LMHCs, LMFTs and LSWs.
