The Keller House, our new on-campus residential/stabilization facility is scheduled to open its doors in the November of 2009. The new building is named in honor of Larry Keller, who retired in December 2007 after founding KMHS and serving as our Executive Director for the past 30 years.
The Keller House will provide 16 beds in a less restrictive setting for individuals who are in transition from Western State Hospital, the KMHS Adult Inpatient Unit or other hospital facility, or individuals living in the community who need short-term stabilization.

The KMHS Board of Directors and staff are very encouraged at the show of early support toward funding of The Keller House. Currently estimated to be a $4 million project, over 68% of the funds have been secured even before ground is broken. |

In June, the Board of Directors made a commitment of up to $1 million for the project, and shortly after, the County donated the land adjacent to the KMHS campus to the project. Following on those guarantees, the Kitsap County and City of Bremerton advisory committees for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) for 2008, recommended support of $200,000 and $138,970 respectively, and the Affordable Housing For All grant application review committee recommended an additional $100,000 for the project. These funds were approved in early November 2007. In early April 2008 Governor Christine Gregoire authorized $1 million towards construction of The Keller House. Most recently, Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council has awarded a Homeless Housing for All grant in the amount of $74,000.
