Driving Requirements

If a KMHS position requires driving on behalf of the agency, that will be stated in the job description along with any related requirements. Successful candidates must meet the minimum requirements for the position as well as the listed driving requirements.

Agency driving requirements, include:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Successfully complete a motor vehicle history check
  • Possess and maintain a valid Washington state driver’s license
  • Possess reliable transportation
  • Maintain auto insurance that meets Washington state requirements

Starting Work

Our goal is to help you be successful from Day One.

We conduct new employee Orientation twice per month; all employees start on one of those dates.

All new hires (regardless of FTE or shift schedule) must attend Orientation and training week in its entirety. Orientation may run 1-2 weeks, depending on your role’s requirements. Orientation runs Monday through Friday, typically from 8 am – 5 pm.

Before Orientation, you’ll complete an online onboarding process that includes:

  • Completing forms
  • Getting a TB test – all employees; paid for by KMHS
  • Getting a food handlers card – paid for by KMHS if applicable to your role
  • Complete HIV/AIDS training – all employees

Yes! We have a process for KMHS employees to join other teams within the agency, and we believe in promoting great talent from within. To minimize team turnover and promote continuity of care, we require employees to stay with a team for 90 days before applying for an open role with another team.

As a community mental health provider, we provide an essential service and are never closed. Most of our positions require employees to work on-site at our locations throughout Kitsap County.
