Youth Outpatient Services

Our Child & Family Department serves clients from birth through age 21 with care and compassion. Every client works with a team and has access to a wide range of additional services tailored to their needs.

We also provide specialized services to children from birth through age five through our Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health program. Services are available to families experiencing stresses that are affecting a child’s development or behavior. Clinicians work with caregivers to:

  • Understand a young child’s behavior
  • Strengthen the caregiver-child relationship
  • Develop practical strategies that support the child’s development

Eligibility

If you feel you or your child could benefit from mental health support, we can help you take the first steps toward recovery regardless of your insurance status or ability to pay.

We are an approved provider through the state’s Medicaid program, known as Apple Health. But we don’t turn anyone away. Depending on your income and the number of people in your family, you may be eligible for a reduced fee based on a sliding scale. Our billing department can discuss your options, including setting up a payment plan.

How to Access Services

To serve as many community members as possible, we enroll clients into KMHS services on a walk-in basis at two locations. First visits may take up to two hours.

Main Campus

5455 Almira Drive NE, Bremerton, WA 98311

8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday

KMHS South Kitsap

1341 Bay St., Suite 110, Port Orchard, WA 98366

8 am to 4 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

If you are a parent hoping to enroll your child in services, your child must be present for the visit. Caregiver consent is required to treat children ages 12 and younger.

What to Expect

Once you’ve completed the intake process, you’ll be assigned to a clinician who will help chart a course to recovery.

  • We will provide services in the region where the child lives.
  • Children may receive services in an office, their school or in the community.
  • For young people of all ages, treatment is most effective when caregivers are present and involved. Parental involvement is required for children ages 12 and younger.
  • Children must be enrolled in KMHS services to access psychiatric medications or autism evaluations.
