Beginning January 1, 2020 persons, choosing KMHS as their behavioral health service provider and are enrolled in or are eligible for Medicaid/AppleHealth health coverage will have their coverage assigned to one of these managed care insurance providers: Molina, United Health Care/Optum, Amerigroup, or for foster care services, Coordinated Care. Just as with any health care provider, please bring your insurance card with you as you check in at our front desk for your appointment.
Operationally, KMHS has been preparing for the transition to Medicaid Managed Care by implementing a new Electronic Health Record System. Our staff have been intensively training in use of “Credible” and find it user friendly. Credible not only facilitates our clinical care records, but also better supports the billing processes necessary with our 2020 transition to managed care. You may notice also some changes out our “front desk” made to accommodate this shift, as we are now required to ask for insurance and billing information at lobby check-in. In addition, we have added more billing staff to our accounting department as well as several clinical team members to conduct the utilization review confirming medical necessity for services, the criteria used by insurers to authorize various client services.
We are still assessing the impact for services delivery for persons who are not eligible for Medicaid and are working diligently to keep our access to outpatient services and other 24/7 services open as widely as possible.
