Helpline House was founded 1968 as a food bank in response to the "War on Poverty." Over the years, it has evolved to include an array of social services, such as social work case management and mental health counseling. ​

CASE MANAGEMENT: A case manager will guide you through a crisis by aiding in decision-making, planning, and accessing resources. Develop a plan to stabilize your situation. Liaise with nonprofit partners and community resources to address your basic needs and guide you in exploring your options. Engage with local, county, state, and federal programs to optimize long-term solutions. ​​ COMMUNITY CARE COORDINATOR: Our community care coordinator will expertly assess your specific situation and recommend expanded services and resources to help you maintain your independence while managing critical needs. We will ensure that you can make the most of our community care network.

Food: Food Bank

Any community member is eligible to receive groceries. No income information is needed. The food bank is the door that opens to additional cost-free social services and support to navigate and assist with a community member's critical financial or mental health needs.

Housing: Counseling

Free of Cost. The program serves as a cost-free confidential service for Bainbridge Island residents and their counseling needs. Services are provided by professional counselors to help with a variety of issues. Counselors are knowledgeable about local resources and referrals to help you build a support group for your self-care plan.

Other: Youth Services

Child Therapy: For children ages five to twelve years old that have experienced emotional stress or trauma. Summer Helpers Take Action!: Summer Helpers Take Action! Sign Up with Your kiddies/tweens. Opportunities are available July 8 through Aug 30 Parents or Guardians, Sign Up with Your Kids/Tweens for a one-hour shift(s) — family volunteering opportunities for children ages 7 to 13. Everyone's welcome. Kids' Pantry: Household shoppers or youth in need are eligible for pre-packed kid-friendly breakfast, lunch, and snack items in addition to weekly food bank shopping. Project Backpack: Items include essential school supplies and a new backpack for local Pre-K through 12th graders preparing to attend an island public or private school. No pre-registration is needed. Parents and guardians are welcome to make a phone appointment with social work for further assistance throughout the year. Scholarship referrals for Day Care & Child Care Providers Helpline House case managers provide scholarship referrals for local child care providers: Bainbridge Island Child Care Centers and Peacock Family Services, and the Boys and Girls Club of Bainbridge Island. Project Happy Birthday: Helpline House families register at the front desk to ensure the celebration of their child's birthday! Donors and volunteers provide appropriate gifts coordinated in advance. Kids Holiday Giving: Supporting neighbors in need. Donors deliver $25 gift cards from Calico Cat. Helpline House families do not need to register. We're looking for donations of new books for young adults! Your support helps provide exciting, inspiring reads for youth. Any contributions are greatly appreciated!
